Julia Cook was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. While living in Utah, she began teaching children how to ski. That experience led to a love of teaching in general. Julia now lives with her husband and three children in Fremont, Nebraska. She has a Master s degree in Elementary School Counseling. While serving as a guidance counselor, Julia often used children s books to enhance her classroom lessons. The goal behind Julia s books is to actively involve young people into her fun and creative stories and teach them to become better. In addition to writing, she also does keynotes and inspirational talks for children and adults.

it works!

This book captivated my kindergarten children. I have children with Asperger syndrome who are very bright and intelligent but often don't do the appropriate thing in social situations. We had a big problem with one particular child, his finger, his nose, and more. We laughed so much with this book. The kids requested it over and over. The therapists, guidance counselors, and other teachers want to borrow it. It Works!!! After one day, the nose picking, etc. was extinguished. The book sends a powerful and explicit message about germs and about socially acceptable behavior. It taught the children how others react to their behavior. It is a must have in any early childhood or special education class. Love it.

About the Author

John Cromby is Senior Lecturer at Loughborough University, UK. Previously, he conducted research and teaching at the Universities of Nottingham and Bradford, and he has experience of working in mental health, drug addiction, and learning disability settings. His work engages with the ways that bodies and social processes come together to produce experience, including experiences of distress. In recent years this has meant exploring topics including paranoia, clinical sadness, emotion and fear of crime, and experimenting with methods of jointly analysing textual data and embodied activity. He is a former editor of the journal Subjectivity.

David Harper is Reader in Clinical Psychology at the University of East London (UEL), UK. He trained as a clinical psychologist at the University of Liverpool and worked as a clinical psychologist in National Health Service mental health services in the north-west of the UK for nine years. For a number of years he combined work as a clinician with part-time study for a PhD at Manchester Metropolitan University. He has been at UEL since 2000 and his research interests are in applying critical psychology and social constructionist ideas to the understanding both of distress (particularly paranoia and unusual experiences and beliefs) and the work of mental health professions. He co-authored Deconstructing psychopathology (1995) and co-edited Qualitative research methods in mental health and psychotherapy: An introduction for students and practitioners (2012). He undertakes a small amount of clinical work as a Consultant Clinical Psychologist in Newham as part of the Systemic Consultation Service.

Paula Reavey is Professor of Psychology at London South Bank University, UK, where she delivers a module on the psychology of mental health and distress. She edited the volume Visual Psychologies: Using and Interpreting Images in Qualitative Research (2011) and also co-edited two volumes, New Feminist Stories of Child Sexual Abuse: Sexual Scripts and Dangerous Dialogues (with Sam Warner, 2003) and Memory Matters: Contexts for Understanding Sexual Abuse Recollections (with Janice Haaken, 2009). She is currently working on a co-authored book Vital Memory: Ethics, Affect and Agency (with Steven D. Brown, 2013) and has also published numerous articles on social remembering, child sexual abuse and sexuality, mental distress, and embodiment and space, using a variety of methodologies, including memory work, discourse analysis and visual methods.

Several of you have written to me saying "How can this possibly be heaven? If this is heaven, why does it feel like hell??" And I want to say that I'm actually not surprised by that reaction, and even when I came up with the title, I expected some of you to say that to me!! So let me explain. Many years ago, my life was hell too. I was bullied very badly as a child, and was taunted and discriminated against for the color of my skin and my family origin--something I had no control over. That really made my life miserable. And it certainly felt like hell when I was going through cancer, being in constant pain and fear for all those years.

Life truly was a struggle for me, and I lived in immense fear for a huge part of my life. I had always believed that life happens to us. In other words, I believed that I was a victim of my circumstances, so I was always reacting to life instead of creating life. Of course I didn't believe I created my life circumstances. Who would create a childhood of bullying and discrimination, all of which shaped my thinking? Who would choose to be born as a woman into a culture that still believes women are inferior to men? Who would create cancer in their own life? Of course I was a victim of my circumstances. Or so I thought...until I "died".

It's been 10 years since I faced death and came out the other side. Now when I look back at these past 10 years, I can see that my life is so drastically different from what it was prior, that I sometimes wonder whether I actually came back from death, or whether I'm still in the other realm. All the fear I used to have, all the pain, all the insecurity - they are all gone! So much so that I wonder whether I'm still dead and this is heaven! Every day, I get to do stuff I love to do! Of course this feels like heaven!

But then I read the letters I have received over the last few years from so many of you, where you share your pain, and your fears. And also, I take a look around at the world around us. And it all brings me back down to earth. And I wonder, "Why can't we all create this state of heaven for ourselves? What is preventing us from doing it? Why did it take death for me to realize how to live my life? Isn't it a wasted life if people only learn the truth of how to live when they die?"

Those are the questions that inspired me to write this book. I don't want you to have to wait until you die to learn how to live. Remember, we are all connected, and I feel what you feel. This book comes from my heart to yours.

Anita Moorjani is the New York Times best-selling author of Dying to Be Me (published by Hay House in 2012), an account of her nearly four-year battle with cancer that culminated in a fascinating and moving near-death experience in 2006, which vastly changed her perspective on life. Real-world examples of living from unconditional love and understanding

This book is full of anecdotes from real life that are really helpful. Anita writes each chapter to show a different situation and possible ways to understand and deal with them. She also has tips and ideas to close each chapter. This is a great way to learn. This is what I've been waiting for as a follow-up to her first book - how to live your life with the wisdom gained from an NDE or epiphany. I highly recommend it!

I was so excited when I seen Anita had a new book coming out, and I pre ordered it right away. I was not dissapointed this book was just so calming to me to read. She just has a genuine warmth about her and I feel her as being a very authentic person. I loved her honesty in this book and I loved the part about just being yourself and not feeling like a failure if you have negative thoughts just means we are human it's a part of life we experience. I just feel she is very genuine. Thank you Anita this book was amazing.

My favorite book in years -- maybe of all time.

This is one of those books I wish had been around for when I was going through middle school, high school, college, etc. The message rings so true with my soul, but no other book has managed to word it in such a pure way that is easy to digest. When I first saw each chapter listed by the popularly held belief system, I was unsure that every chapter would pertain to me. I was so wrong. Every single chapter has a valuable (and relatable) lesson. It has even helped me experience feelings of self-forgiveness for something I did 10 years ago that I still haven't let myself off the hook for! (And I've read plenty of books on forgiveness). Anita Moorjani, thank you so much for sharing your beautiful perspective with the world.

Dodsworth promises the duck that if he can stay out of trouble while they take a bus tour, visit a museum, and attend a festival, he'll treat him to some wagashi, dessert. Predictably, the duck doesn't quite succeed, though he does inadvertently impress the locals and return the lost toy. When finally enjoying his long-awaited treat, he ends up making another mess, but his ever-patient companion just laughs. The Japanese words and complex vocabulary will make this chapter book a challenge for young readers, though Egan's pleasant, colorful panels help to decode their meaning. For an adventure in a foreign country, the plot lags slightly. Dodsworth and the Duck in the Land of the Rising Sun

In this latest installment, Dodsworth and the duck continue their adventures in Tokyo, where Dodsworth cautions the impetuous duck to be on his best behavior since "Japan is a land of customs and manners and order." The very qualities duck most certainly isn't. But for the most part duck does manage to contain himself, to the surprise of his friend. Together they take in the sights of Yoyogi Park, eat sushi, visit the Imperial Palace, stroll through the East Gardens--where duck falls in and must be rescued (even though he's a duck he never learned to swim)--and tour the Museum of Imperial Collections.

It's only when the pair travel to a temple that things start to fall apart. A festival is underway and duck disappears into the crowd. Soon he's flipping and jumping and sliding all over the place, crashing into people and knocking things over. Has duck lost it for good? No, there's a reason for his crazy antics and a very satisfying one.

Tim Egan has written and illustrated another winning easy reader featuring this odd pair of mismatched travelers. And according to a recent interview, their next stop is Athens. The Parthenon had better watch out!

Who better to visit Tokyo with than Dodsworth and his duck?

Dodsworth and the duck go to Tokyo. Everything is mysterious and delicious and cleverly fun. The duck has trouble fitting in, as usual, and accidently breaks things and knocks things over, but all is good in the end. I really liked this little trip to Tokyo with Dodsworth and the duck.

Dodsworth in Tokyo is funny, witty and full of adventure, as with the other books in the Dodsworth series. My son has the entire collection and this, along with Dodsworth in Paris, is one of his favorites. Looking forward to the next release!

Think Lord of the Ring Meets Underworld!!

Gargoyles, churches, a 300-pound dog, a faery, forces of evil and a prostitute; just another day in the life of, Rhychard the moving man. Get ready for plenty of fast paced action when the main character, Rhychard, becomes a Warrior of the Way; a role he never wanted. After coming upon a hoard of killer gargoyles, Rhychard finds himself in possession of a sword that will change every aspect of his life. His new role of Warrior not only causes him to lose , Renny, the love of his life but invites a host of characters into his life who help him on his quest to conquer the evil, Vargas. The book opens right in the midst of the action and just keeps going; never a dull moment. With plenty of twists, turns and battles the author has created a page turner of a book that you will be hard pressed to put down. Good vs. evil, corruption, love, underworld and fantasy, Reaping the Harvest has it all. I can't wait for the next book in the series and I consider this a must read for anyone who wants to see what an unleashed imagination is capable of creating.

Good start

You have to feel sorry for poor Rhychard Bartlett, the main protagonist in Robbie Cox's novel, Reaping the Harvest. One day you're driving along minding your own business, the next you're rushing to the aid of an elf who has been mortally wounded by giant bat-like creatures. Jamairlo is a Warrior of the Way, bearer of the Guardian Sword, who, before he dies, bequeaths this sacred weapon to Rhychard. Rhychard's life is turned upside down after this chance encounter. Plunged into a battle between the Way and the Void, Rhychard's secret life alienates him from those around him. The most important is his girlfriend of four years - Renny Saunders - who interprets Rhychard's distancing as clear signs of infidelity. Can Rhychard win her back and what of the war he is in the midst of?

Rhychard is aided in his quest by by an elyll named Tryna from the Land Under and Kree, a large coshey also from the Land Under. Rhychard's is a busy life. He has to contend with gargoyles and other threats from the Void and sent by the demon - Vargas. If that isn't bad enough, there are strange things going on at Rhychard's church - Harvest Fellowship - and with him and Renny attending this place of worship things get a little awkward. Despite his best efforts Rhychard cannot win Renny back and she refuses to listen to any claims of his innocence about the infidelity she believes he has committed. Then there's the pastor - Adrian - and a prostitute named Buttercup thrown into the equation before the end. Action-packed? Certainly.

The opening installment in the Warrior of the Way series, Reaping the Harvest begins well and continues at a frantic pace. The action only slows for the tender scenes between Rhychard and Renny but the threat of the Void is never far away and more than once you will be left wondering whether Rhychard will make it to the end. There's a good story built around the Harvest Fellowship and you will be left speculating what the demon - Vargas - is up to throughout. The ending was something of a surprise as well. The only downside to the book is the brevity but I understand Mr Cox has another book in the works so that's a mild complaint.

Reaping the Harvest is a solid opener. You will sympathise with poor Rhychard, left with a huge responsibility for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. This is a rare example of the downside of being kind and caring towards others. The narrative is well-paced with a memorable set of characters who I hope will make a welcome return in the next book.

Reaping the Harvest is one of those books that you can't put down and don't want to end. It is the story of a good samaritan, Rhychard Bartlett, that gets far more than he bargained. He is cast into a battle between the Way and the Void that nobody else knows is being fought by the Guardian of the Way. A reluctant warrior, Rhychard is trained by an elfin warrior master, educated by an elyll and protected by a coshey hound in a battle against gargoyles and demons. It is a fast paced book of love, loss, anger, corruption and redemption. When the book ends you want more. There is much more to tell in the story of Rhychard Bartlett, Warrior of the Way. I just hope Mr. Cox does not keep us waiting too long.
